MORE 'DEIS DRAMA: Jawsblog posts

MORE 'DEIS DRAMA: Jawsblog posts a Letter to the Editor by Brandeis Hillel, which was for some reason not printed in this week's issue of the Justice, making the very interesting point that a swastika was found on a building on campus last month, but has caused no fury on campus whatsoever- contrasted with the non-stop brouhaha that followed last year's publication of a racial slur in the newspaper. This despite the school having a majority-Jewish population, contrasted with a black population that's small even by elite-East-Coast-school standards.
A Justice op-ed writer sums up my feelings best:

Why did University President Jehuda Reinharz fail to send an e-mail condemning the swastika the day it was discovered? Why was [the school chaplain's] e-mail several days after the incident? Where is the campus-wide condemnation by the Intercultural Center? Why has there not been a public outcry by various campus groups that claim to be pillars of tolerance and respect? Why have there been no rallies? Why has there been no protest? Senate resolutions? Emergency meetings? Where are the very vocal students who responded to last semester's hateful acts now?

The sad thing is, even at the Non-Sectarian Jewish-Sponsored University, doctrinaire PC othodoxy trumps all, and hate crimes against the majority don't count as hate crimes. I'm just glad some people are starting to notice. I knew my alma mater felt like the Death Camp of Tolerance before- but now there are actually swastikas.
