REALITY BITES BACK: Wearing what

REALITY BITES BACK: Wearing what looked like a blond fright wig, Janeane Garofalo appeared tonight on Keith Olbermann's MSNBC show. As readers of "Live From New York" know, Janeane has always been a nutjob, but her political extremism is relatively new- on the show, she referred to the "right-wing mainstream media," and lambasted Americans for "attacking" Johnny Depp, who just- wait for it- lambasted and attacked America.
Also new is Janeane's borderline-scary appearance- a very attractive woman as recently as a couple years ago, Garofalo now looks not unlike Sharon Stone in the final third of Scorsese's "Casino." After the show was over, did she drive over to Olbermann's house and repeatedly slam her car into his?

SPEAKING OF WHICH: What a horrible year it's been for all of the "Reality Bites" principals: Garofalo has descended even further into madness, Winona Ryder is now a convicted criminal, Ethan Hawke is about to get dumped by Uma Thurman, and Ben Stiller's new movie, "Envy," will not be released in theaters. At least Steve Zahn still has a viable indie career.
In the meantime, go read Roger Ebert's 1994 review of "Reality Bites." You know how you'll see a movie, and like it, but then you'll read a review and it'll come to you just how much the movie sucked? That's the case here. Here's Roger:

But of course these observations go against the deep-seated prejudices of the movie, which are that anyone who shoots documentary video footage of friends is a genius; anyone who is pushing 30 and has a good job has sold out; and anyone who is simultaneously unemployed and hostile is a reservoir of truth.

Hell, I know people who still think like that today.
