THE ANNIVERSARY PARTY: I'd like to wish a happy 30th anniversary today to my mother and father, who walked down the aisle on July 8, 1973. Best wishes to both of you; I wish I could be there for it.
Anniversary wishes today also go out to another, much less functional couple: Doug and Jackie Christie. The Christies, as they do every year, will presumably be renewing their vows today. But this year they've got a distraction: a former Sacramento Kings spokeswoman is suing Doug, Jackie, and the team, claiming she was fired after she gave Doug Christie a phone message- a violation of Mrs. Christie's long-established rules that Doug not ever speak to any woman other than his wife. It should go without saying that I'm rooting for the woman to win- it's about time the courts became aware of this sick example of spousal abuse.
