WITHOUT A HITCH: It's been

WITHOUT A HITCH: It's been one big blog-o-rama in New York City the last few nights, and I'm only now catching my breath. Thursday night, in Tribeca, I attended my first-ever meeting of the Christopher Hitchens Drinking Club, a society created in honor of everybody's favorite booze-swilling-leftist-journalist-with-a-conscience. Hitch himself didn't show up, but there was a guy in the bar who may or may not have been Jack Black.
Then Friday night was the 14th Annual (?) Big Apple Blogger Bash, held at a bar that Jack Black himself has sung about before (ZZZZZanzibar!) A splendid time was had by all, even the guy who had already passed out in his chair by the time I arrived at 8PM. I finally got to meet some bloggers who I've read and enjoyed for a long time (like Asparagirl and Guanubian), as well as lots of new ones I've just discovered, from Paul Frankenstein to Ken Goldstein to Jane Galt to Mr. Swill to Mike Lee to GiggleChick to MSNBC Weblog Central head honcho Will Femia. And many many more...
One pleasant surprise: despite the stereotype of bloggers as geeky and nerdish, not only was the male/female ratio nearly 50/50, but there was also a preponderance in the room of fetching lady bloggers (all of whom were also very, very nice). And adding to the unpredictability of the evening, just after midnight I stumbled upon a tableful of attractive female (but non-blogging) Brandeis graduates! On Friday nights, Zanzibar is sometimes called by its other name, The Twilight Zone.
