SPACECAMP: THE SEQUEL: We all

SPACECAMP: THE SEQUEL: We all know the drill: a major Hollywood film is all set for release, until Major World Events occur that are eerily reminiscent of parts of the movie, causing the studio to delay or sometimes even scrap its release. This happened to multiple movies after the Columbine massacre, and of course to several more after the events of 9/11. The latter even provoked schizophrenia on Hollywood's part, as movie execs changed their minds multiple times on whether to push back military films, move them up, cut out the Twin Towers, put them back in, etc.
One of the first instances of world events causing doom to Hollywood projects was "SpaceCamp," a goofy 1986 comedy about kids in space that had the tragic misfortune of being released mere months after the Challenger explosion. According to the indespensible movie rumor website Coming Attractions, a similar calamity has befallen "The Core." This upcoming thriller about a mission to the center of the Earth includes a scene of the Space Shuttle in "dangerous circumstances"; the offending scene was even included in the film's trailer (oops) which has since been pulled. Now there's talk that the Shuttle scenes will be removed from the final cut altogether.
