Two Holidays I Don’t Celebrate

It’s currently both Earth Day and TV Turnoff Week. Lileks demolishes the former, Nick Gillespie the latter.

I'd say he more takes out the eco-crazies or the oversimplicity of that quiz than "Earth Day" itself, about which he really says nothing. After all, does this quote:

"I try not to be wasteful. I don’t buy much packaged food. We produce one (1) trash can of garbage per week. We recycle. I don’t put chemicals on the lawn; when a drought comes, I let the lawn go brown. I wouldn’t buy an SUV that got crappy mileage because I don’t need a big vehicle, and I don’t like buying gas more than once a week. These seem like sensible decisions, and if you can apply the idea elsewhere in your life, do it"

really sound that different from how most environmentalists (not John Kamp and his extremist ilk, but most people concerned about the environment) live?
