Like Deadheads When Jerry Died

According to the New York Sun, when Ronald Reagan's death was announced on Saturday, an international conference of obituary writers just happened to be going on at the same time.

Good thing they all wrote their Gipper obits 7-10 years ago.

The article relates that all the reporters dashed for the payphones, a la the 1950s. Don't these guys have CELL PHONES, or better yet, INTERNET?

Better question... how can people whose main purpose is to cover the most sudden of news stories (not necessarily in this case) all gather together in one place? If a catastrophe took place there who would cover it?
