Tutu vs. Ronnie

This Boston Globe column by Derrick Z. Jackson is one of the weaker anti-Reagan pieces of the week, probably because all he does, throughout, is quote Desmond Tutu continuously. He probably should’ve let Tutu write the piece himself:

Tutu continued: "In my view, the Reagan administration's support and collaboration with it is equally immoral, evil, and totally un-Christian. . . . You are either for or against apartheid and not by rhetoric. You are either in favor of evil or you are in favor of good. You are either on the side of the oppressed or on the side of the oppressor. You can't be neutral."

Tutu was right, of course, about apartheid. But the last time I heard the phase “You’re either for or against [blank],” or “you are either in favor of evil or you are in favor of good,” those words were coming out of George W. Bush’s mouth, in reference to terrorism. And I don’t remember the Boston Globe- or Derrick Jackson- being nearly so enthusiastic back then.

I think I've gotten Jackson down to a science: If it's a republican or proposed by one, it's evil and wrong. That's the point of his column

Jackson is part of the Soul Patrol™ that begat Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and Maxine Waters and Cynthia McKinney.

If a conservative says anything, count on ol' Derrick Z. to say the opposite, no matter what -- even if it is for him to say the sky is green instead of blue.

Someone mixed Earth's definition with his in the Hitchhikers' Guide: "Mostly harmless."
