Fightin' Round the World

My full review of "Cinderella Man" is online here. And check out this interview with Russell Crowe from two weeks ago, where it is suggested that Crowe has "mellowed" since he married and fathered a child. This should come as news to that guy at the Mercer Hotel who the actor threw a phone at the other night.

Love the title of the post. That was pretty much my reaction to Crowe starring in a boxing movie.

BTW, Baer was not Jewish although his father was half-Jewish. At the time all the top fighters had an ethnic identity and it is believed that Baer's Jewish manager was trying to capitlize on that.

In 1935 with Baer to fight Max Schmeling - hitlers unwilling poster boy - he sported for the first time, the Magen David on his trunks. And from thereafter he became identified as Jewish fighter.

Here is a great article about the real Max Baer Sr. http://slate.msn.com/id/2120151/
