Ha Am Im Ha Times Square

Going to lunch yesterday my co-workers and I stumbled into a rally being held against Israel’s Gaza disengagement plan. The settler-surrogates were there in full orange force, as were a cabal of ultra-Orthodox anti-Zionists. I’m sure the Palestinians were too, though I didn’t see them.

The NYPD generally did a good job keeping the rival groups fenced off from one another. Ironic, considering that's what the argument is about in the first place.

I’d say I’m supportive of the plan, although I understand the arguments of the anti-disengagement side. I just feel that separation, leading to an eventual two-state solution, is the only tenable solution to the conflict.

The problem with the "two state" solution or whatever NEW demands the Palestinian Authority comes up with every week, is where does it end.

If anyone wants to look back at the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it's one new demand after another from the Palestinians, in exchange for killing LESS Israeli's.

The amazing thing is that NO OTHER cluntry...not America, Britain, the smelly French, the Germans...no one would put up with what the Israeli's put up with in terms of 'what the world deems as a fair trade off'.

But only Israel has to put up with the world saying it's OK to kill Israeli's if Israel doesn't give in on some new demand by the Palestinians.

It's funny to me how the world has ignored things like the flag of Israel covered in Palestinian colors that hung for years in Arafat's Ramallah offices; or the fact that IN the Palestinian charter, it calls for (in Arabic) the total annhilation of the Jewish people by forcing them into the waters.

Again, why actually understand what's really going on when the international press can have more fun by making it up as they go along. just DISGUSTING.

Hah! I stumbled on a rally yesterday too (tho I guess your run-in was Tuesday). Union Sq there was an anti-Roberts to-do.

The two-state solution is nothing new -- it's what the UN General Assembly passed in 1947.
