It's Menendez, Brother

New Jersey has a new U.S. Senator, and it's Rep. Robert Menendez, who was nominated by new Gov. Jon Corzine to fill out the final year of Corzine's Senate term. Though Menendez, of course, will have to immediately begin running for re-election.

That happened to a friend of mine. She won a special election for the Congressional seat in SoDak when the former congressman killed a guy, then she had to run again the next term, winning the seat again.

I seem to remember something strange like that in Missouri when Ashcroft lost to a dead guy, and his widow was then appointed to take his place.

BLOGGER I think you are watching too much sports because what you have to say abou tother things is becoming really meaningless. Of course he has to begin campaigning, whether he ran for Senate or the House, its all for 2006, DUH! Did you also know he will be the third Latino Senator ever???

"Did you also know he will be the third Latino Senator ever???"

Actually, there were three Latino US Senators from New Mexico from the 20's to the 70's. Then you've got Martinez and Salazar both in there now. That would make Menendez sixth.
