According to the Smoking Gun, the 33-year-old Iowa man attempted to get his wife to sign a 4-page "Contract of Wifely Expectations" which includes, well, just read it. Let's just say the biggest schmuck named Frey on the Smoking Gun this year is no longer James.
Posted by Stephen Silver at February 22, 2006 01:27 PMJust have one comment. Just remember that there ware always two sides to every story. I don't believe that we have heard both sides yet. Have you heard that Ruth Frey had threatened to take down Travis Frey and make him pay for wanting to take his daughters to a new church? Have you heard that he is a wonderful father? and son? Have you heard that he didn't download that contract from the net? Have you heard that Ruth Frey did? No because that wouldn't make the news, it's not as sensational for the media. Just remember there are two sides to every story and we haven't heard both sides yet.
Posted by: Another Iowan at March 9, 2006 05:54 PMI Think much of the media attention has happened because the 'Contract of wifley expectations' has caused quite a stir. These contracts are not unknown in the sadistic lifestyle, and I am not suprised that it is a 'boiler' contract which been downloaded. Whatever the in's and out's of the Frey's relationship is, this will no doubt come out in court. The shock is caused because wider society has been given a glimpse into just how nasty and violent the BDSM cult really is. Society cannot comprehend how any healthy person would sign, or want to sign somone they suposedly LOVE into such slavery. The one good thing to come from this is that it has given wider society more information to better understand just how viscious sadism really is, and that can't be a bad thing.
Posted by: Spartacus at March 10, 2006 04:38 AMI disagree with comments by 'Another Iowan'. Two sides to a story, yes, but that is no excuse for this man to sexually abuse his wife, and have such a contract, which, she did not sign, so she didn't agree to his disgusting wifely agreement. He's a wonderful father? Downloading child porn is being a wonderful father? How do you know he wasn't sexually abusing his own kids? Maybe the 20 mins. after kids go to bed is really HIS time to abuse his own kids. This man is sick. How do YOU claim that Ruth downloaded the contract from the net? And she obviously didn't enjoy being tied up and sexually assaulted or this contract and story would not have made the news. Last I knew indentured servitude was against the law.
Posted by: Laurie at March 10, 2006 05:46 PMOkay, okay, this is my cousin's husband, and the family can be deceptive. That's all I have to say.
Posted by: Family to wife at March 13, 2006 05:33 PMI can't even believe these comments. Travis has NEVER Touched his girls in that way NEVER!!!!!! I'll be in court to support Travis. You all don't know him and I know for a fact that he did not sexually abuse his wife, she downloaded the contract, he didn't sign it either. She downloaded the porn to "put him away". I personally heard her say those words. I know he wasn't abusing his kids. I have an abused daughter in my home, we've talked about the signs and his 3 daughters are not showing signs of abuse. Also, if they were taken to the doctor they would find out that they are whole yet. How do I know Ruth downloaded the contract, anyone can download anything off of the net. She told Travis that she would "put his away for life," for his wanting to get his girls away from the cult that Ruth attends. You just don't know both sides. The truth will come out and Travis will be a free man!
Posted by: Another Iowan at March 14, 2006 04:25 PMMost truths are so naked that people feel sorry for them and cover them up, at least a little bit.
Edward R. Murrow
How do you KNOW he is innocent? Because you know him? I don't, and I'm not saying he is guilty, just that these total black and white claims are kinda silly. Sure, she could have downloaded the contract, and I can see why she might do it. But he might have made the contract himself as well. Just as a question, what was their marriage like before?
Posted by: Supa at March 20, 2006 07:02 PMWhether or not you are related to someone, doesn't mean you know EVERYTHING about how their mind works..
Fact is, people with mental conditions that cause them to crave these sadistic positions of power, rarely discuss these behaviours and motivations in a normal social setting..
WAKE UP.. just coz he's your cousin doesnt mean he is innocent..
Why don't you let him mind your kids and your wife one night.. how about that if he's such a saint!?
Posted by: shakra at March 26, 2006 08:10 PMokay hers a thought i know both ruth and travis i lived and worked with both of them.Personally, i always thought they were both a little different however when i knew them ruth would do anything to make you happy and help out and you know how sometimes you can get that funny creepy feeling about somebody well travis gave me that feeling so i have to say i was shocked when i say the story on the news but i really wasn't that surprised. Maybe things just got out of had with the trying to be pleasing but that doesn't excuse the child porn
Posted by: blast from the past at March 27, 2006 06:46 PMWhen I read the comment from the cousin. It sounds like they are the cousin to Ruth, not Travis.
Posted by: at March 28, 2006 12:57 PMYeah, Iowan, you do that. You go to court and support dear old Travey....WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CAPACINO, HUN! This woman has been assaulted three times. Guess she made that up...and took that to the police...and they just believed her...without any kind of physical evidence. She must be very persuasive, because if the police who had to arrest this man and the prosecutor/DA who has to try this case will arrest the man AND go so far as to take him to court ON HER WORD ALONE???...and on a piece of paper that, granted, could have been downloaded from anywhere? Sweetie, the contract is NOT illegal--absurd, sick, psycho maybe, but not illegal. The police couldn't even detain him for something like that--they should, but they can't. It had to be more. And like you said, if this is all riddled with untruths, then you can rest assured that the truth will come out very soon. But Hun, usually, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck--most often IT'S A DICK, er I mean, DUCK!
Posted by: Waaaaaaaaaaaaake Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup at March 28, 2006 03:46 PMPeople often make up bullshit, and the police have a quota for arrest, so....
In any case, the courts have no business getting involved with the BDSM lifestyle. People are shocked because they aren't exposed to it. It is convenient to all of a sudden say "This wasn't consentual!" when there's a dispute going on. I'm not buying it.
If anything is to be done, both involved should be shot. Who is at fualt is not exactly clear, because I doubt that Ruth had the purest of intentions when she went to the press. Most people are idiots, and believe any bullshit they read in the news. They probably beleived Clinton when he said "I did not have sexual relations..."
9 years and no complaint, and then suddenly this? My bullshit detector is going off. It is a well known fact that people get spiteful in divorces. Images can also be downloaded by anyone, quite easily. Not that complicated to plant that shit, and since Iowa is a backwards hick state, people jump to conclusions.
Reminds me of some idiot who made up some contract for him to be dommed and such, and then when he escaped, he had in the contract he wrote for him to be captured and punished severely.
So he went to the police. The police should have shot him for being such a God Damned idiot. His case shouldn't have even been considered.
Posted by: at March 29, 2006 11:38 PMIf Ruth did not like his all rules, so why she had live with him for 9 years? May be she liked his rules first. But I am sure Travis is really sick guy. He needs to see a mental doctor. And needs to have some theraphy about sex. I am wondering his dadys and moms life. May be they are sick too. Anyway. Sorry for Ruth and for the kids. May be kids gonna be sick like their dady too. Damn.
Posted by: Mike Dick at April 3, 2006 06:01 PM"9 years and no complaint, and then suddenly this?"
For the record, I was married to a man for 8 years. It turned out he was arrested for raping several girls ages 13 to 16. (after we divorced)
No one saw the problems in our marriage (before) ..well, I blamed myself for them. I thought that if I were more "open" in bed, if I were a better wife, if I kept the house cleaner... then we wouldn't have problems.
Just so you know - the victim of abuse never shows it untill the end. We appeard to be the "perfect" couple. But, He was a monster. Cruel and mean.
- and for the record? His family still defends him, even though he is in jail for 30 years. They say that the girls lied, that the evedince was wrong and that the marriage problmens were because I was a Christian. Go figure.
