End of an Era

With their victory over Florida last night, the Mets finally brought the Atlanta Braves' run of 14 straight division titles to an end, as Atlanta was eliminated from contention for the NL East title. So after all these years of picking against Atlanta at the start of the season, I'm finally right.

So the final scorecard for the Braves: 14 division titles, and 1 (one) world championship. That, and they still can't fill their stadium.

Do you remember back in college when I almost drove down to Atlanta for a game 7 vs the Mets that never happened? I ordered tickets the afternoon of game 6 (the day before the proposed game 7) and had it not been for Armando Benitez and Kenny Rogers, I would have been sitting 14 rows back on the 1st base side. I can't even get seats that good for the Mets vs the Brewers in June on the first day they go on sale, and this was the NLCS!!!!!
