Film Critic Quote of the Week

"Don't get me wrong -- I think Ms. Bening is a unique talent who has lit up the screen in films such as "The Grifters" and "Bugsy." She's at her best when she's an outwardly sunny charmer with a predator's heart. But here she gives a screeching, self-indulgent performance in a precious, pretentious, relentlessly irritating film about deranged people engaging in twisted acts and telling themselves they're free spirits when in fact they should all be institutionalized."
-Richard Roeper, reviewing "Running With Scissors" in the Chicago Sun-Times. It was an absolute mess of a movie, made by a writer/director ("Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy) who clearly has no idea how to put a coherent screenplay together. But it was just crazy enough that I was entertained most of the way through (no, I didn't read the book.) Posted by Stephen Silver at November 1, 2006 01:55 PM

I can't believe you quoted Roaper. He is an idiot who doesn't deserve to be on the same stage at Ebert.
