The Noms

Like I said, I don't care that much about the Oscars. But even I'm surprised that "Dreamgirls" was left out of the Best Picture category. When I saw it, I really felt like it had "Best Picture" written all over it, even more than "The Departed" (which I liked more) or "The Queen." I did not see "Babel" or "Letters From Iwo Jima, but I did see (and strongly disliked) "Little Miss Sunshine." I'm sorry, I'll never, ever understand that film's appeal.

I have no big disagreements with the acting categories, though I would have loved to see Sacha Baron Cohen get recognized for "Borat."

I'll have more to say later, I'm sure.

Borat did get recognized for for Best Original Screenplay.
As for the noms, it really has become a joke by now. Because it doesnt make sense for Dreamgirls to have the most noms but not best picture. It's all Hollywood's way of not wanting to piss anyone int own off and make everyone feel loved by spreading the noms around. And Little Miss Sunshine is an awesome movie and one the best I've seen all year. There are more dysfunctional middle class families than you know blogger...

I really was hoping this year was the year the Academy turned the corner on comedy. Borat would have been the performance. Or so I thought.
