1-2-3-4, We Don't Want Your Anti-War

For a look at how America has turned against the war in Iraq- and the anti-war movement had just about nothing to do with it- turn to this week's North Star column.

What a crock of rightwing talking points. "Retreat and defeat"? "Chomskyite"? "International ANSWER"? To cling to such slander and ignore the actual makeup of the opposition to the Iraq war is the epitome of lazy conservative thinking.

I actually attended the recent Peace March in D.C., and the number of participants was more like 100,000, while your side could only muster about a dozen. And yes, while the majority were average people who love America and oppose stupid wars (not all war), there were some people from some fringe groups. So what? They weren't the main organizers. And unlike, say, a Bush campaign rally, no one tried to physically assualt and toss out those who weren't on-message. There's this thing called the First Amendment, perhaps you've heard of it.

Finally, you've got no proof for your main argument. You simply claim there is no causal relationship between the anti-Iraq-war movement and the public's current opinion, because you think people who were against it all along are icky. Ockham's Razor, Steve: What's the simpler explanation, that the protests and written arguments against the war convinced people over time, or that some wholly separate process did?
