Wow, This Could Actually... Be Cool

News Item: Kevin Smith's next film will be a horror picture called "Red State"

I guess the villains will be Fred Phelps-types, which is probably only because he can't take revenge on his previous tormentor, William Donohue, by making him the villain of his movie ("South Park" already did it.)

Cinematical also reports on a new film, called "The Friday Night Knitting Club," in which Mike Binder will direct Julia Roberts. Based on those three facts, this really sounds to me like the least enticing movie in the history of American cinema.

Wow; how ballsy of Smith. A "horror" movie based on a small bunch of wackjobs who are entirely and absolutely unrepresentative of the religion they claim to practice.

Of course, idiots like Smith don't have the stones to take on the actual horrors - decapitations, "honor killings", rapes, mutilations, and - if Squinty has his way in Iran, the ongoing preparation for the nuclear annihilation of Israel - which are practiced daily around the world by Muslims. Maybe Smith should speak with Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Salman Rushdie to learn what it's like for an artist to live with a fatwa over their heads. Better yet, he can speak with fellow film-maker Theo van Gogh. Oh, that's right; van Gogh was murdered (and almost decapitated) with a knife to his throat by a Muslim who didn't like the movie van Gogh made.

What a gutless wonder Smith is. Really not worthy of your attention, Steve.

What a bizarre previous comment.

Did you read the linked article, Tiny?

Maybe you're right. After all, that artist who did the life-size, anatomically correct statue of Muhammad made out of chocolate for a show during Ramadan showed some nerve.

Or the one a few years who depicted Muhammad's mother in elephant dung.

Or that guy whose art consisted of the Koran in a jar of piss.

Oh, wait . . .

Yeah, better that they - and Smith - take on the real and present danger presented by douchebags who like to demonstrate at soldiers' funerals. I mean, it just makes sense, after Jerry Falwell inspired those guys to knock down the Twin Towers and all.
