Quote of the Day

Ron Brownstein, on "Meet the Press" Sunday, on the stimulus package:

This bill was a presidency in a box. He achieved more of his aims in this single legislation than many presidents will achieve in an entire term. I mean, there is more new net public investment here on things the Democrats consider essential for long-term growth--like education, scientific research, alternative energy--than Bill Clinton was able to achieve in two terms.
But, but... I thought Obama's presidency was already a failure!

The economic stimulus package was Obama's dick in a box?

Give him time.

I come from the other side of the political spectrum and naturally don't see things the way you do. If I had to rate Obama so far, I'd give him a D-. This "stimulus" package is one of the main reasons. You seem to see all this in political terms. I look at it in economic terms, and I think this legislation will cause serious, and quite possibly irreversible damage to the economy. Do you not see this potential? Or do you consider the political benefits so good that the economic ones don't matter? Or do you actually think that that this legislation will benefit the economy? If that's the case, would we be better off economically if we let the govt dictate ALL spending?
