Ta-Nahesi, responding to the assertion from nutjob Congressman Steve King that Obama instinctively "favors the black person:
The charge by white public figures that certain politicians favor blacks, and thus disfavors whites is not merely "racial resentment" it isn't just "racial discomfort," it is an old and racist appeal aimed squarely at a particular citizen, nursing the most ancient of American resentments. And tea party hero Glenn Beck, yesterday, claimed that Obama hasn't met with the CEO of BP because he is white. These people are nothing less than mockable. One final note, I've seen a lot of Tea Party folks taking exception to the charge that they are in anyway motivated by racism. Fair enough. I would humbly suggest that when you embrace political leaders who claim that the president "favors the black person," or when your keynote speaker claims that "literacy tests" would have prevented an Obama election, you should not be surprised that your membership comes to the mall toting signs that claim Obama is supporting "White slavery."
