CARTOON COVERAGE: I don't know why the Blogosphere isn't screaming today about this goofy "slideshow" about life in the Gaza Strip that ran in the New York Times Magazine Sunday.
Now I've said before, and I'm not the only Stephen Silver who thinks so, that the Times' coverage of Israel has resembled a cartoon for years. But this might be a new low: from reading the cartoon, one would have almost no idea that the reason Israel makes incursions into Gaza is because of terrorism and suicide bombings. I'm surprised cartoonist Joe Sacco resisted the temptation to rip off Art Spiegelman and depict the Israeli soldiers as cats and the Palestinians mice.
