Quote of the Day

"People. Why are [Twins fans] booing A.J. [Pierzynski]? Honestly, it’s just childish, and it makes it seem like we’re one of those towns where the majority of the baseball fans have no earthly idea how the game works, and have merely wandered into the ballpark because they heard there was beer inside. (Helloooooo, Philadelphia!)"
-"Intern Sam," on TwinsGeek.com. I hate when my two sports cities fight. But it'll be fun next year, when the Twins play the Phillies and the Vikings play the Eagles.

Speaking of the Phils, they've finally reached .500 after beating the Cubs last night, with Aaron Rowand suffering yet another collision (this time it was with Chase Utley and not with the wall; neither, though, came up with the ball).

That's the first nice thing I've heard about Pierzynski from a non-White Sox fan...well, pretty much since he joined the team.

AJ does not deserve to be booed. He was a valuable player for the Twins who always gave his all and produced. He did not demand a trade nor did chase money as a FA.

Without knowing anymore than that he should be cheered. However, we do not need Paul Harvey to know the rest of the story. AJ was traded for three pitchers who are on the major league roster -- two of whom are mega stars in Liriano and Nathan. Oh, and he cleared room for a minor piece of the team who just happens to be leading the majors in hitting and who throws out nearly 40% of all baserunners who attempt to steal and who is a catcher of one of the top pitching staffs in the league.

We should be buying AJ dinner every time he is in town and thank him for the bounty.

Well apparently Rowand broke his ankle in that collision ... so it looks like he will probably be done for the rest of the season. Which means, until April 07.

AJ is a gamer. He enjoys getting a rise out of opposing players - usually in a legitimate old-school baseball style. Booing him is respect.

I boo him because I respect his game. He doesn't laugh it up with the Twins players before the game - he's here to win, I want him to lose. I boo because that's my job as a fan, and AJ is one of very few players who appreciates and deserves the respect of being booed.

Now Barry Bonds - I boo him because I hate that he's ruined a portion of the game.
