About Time

News Item: Swiss arrest Roman Polanski, for possible U.S. extradition.

Of all the people in the world who have drugged and raped underage girls, and then fled the country for decades, Polanski's probably the only one who hasn't been shunned and spat upon. He should have been, though.

Um, gee, you don't know this case, do you, Mr. Silver? Polanski didn't drug or attack anyone. He was introduced to an 18-year-old woman who was trying to get acting or modeling jobs, who was later revealed to be 13. Didn't drug anyone. The victim admits she didn't resist because she was young & intimidated. She wasn't attacked, and I think it's safe to assume it never would have happened if he knew her age because he has never been associated with underaged girls before or since. And the victim doesn't want criminal charges pursued against Polanski. An undisclosed civil settlement was reached years ago. There's tons of other details about this case that are pretty awful, and all done to Polanski, if you care to learn what you're talking about.
